A founding member of Australian bands NOT DROWNING, WAVING, and MY FRIEND THE CHOCOLATE CAKE, Bridie has released three solo albums to critical acclaim and produced and written soundtracks for a number of feature films including The Man Who Sued God, Remote Area Nurse and The Circuit.

A pivotal and influential Australian writer and performer, David is performing at MUSICFEST on Saturday 9th with his band (before heading to WOMAD in SA).

THE DAVIDSON BROTHERS

Latrobe Valley boys from Yinnar, now with seven albums under their belt and a shelf of Golden Guitars, the Davidson Brothers - Hamish and Lachlan Davidson - are Australia’s hottest bluegrass/country act. This will be one of your last chances to see them in action before Lachlan heads to the US

Australian Country Music Award winners in 2009, 2010 and 2012, and Group of the Year at the 2010 Australian Independent Country Music Awards, Hamish and Lachlan Davidson are, according to Troy Cassar-Daley, “the best young bluegrass pickers we have seen for a long while in Australia."

KIRA PURU and the BRUISE

Winners of the Triple J Unearthed's APRA/AMCOS Song Summit competition, Kira Puru has been described by Melbourne's Lanie Lane as "a force of nature. She rocks my world and her live performance is just incredible".

With a new single 'Step into the Light', Kira Puru and The Bruise bring a genre-defying style to MUSICFEST -  "Sharon Jones meets Ella Fitz pipes, flirty menace and whip-tight, black singlet clad slice of badass" said Sydney music magazine Brag.

As striking as her finely-crafted songs, Laura brings a breezy 'Eva Cassidy' acoustic style to the stage with a truly beautiful voice and solid guitar accompaniment.

Her latest EP, ‘The Guava Tree’ highlights her gift as a songwriter and follows her previous successful 2010 release, ‘Over My Shoulder’ (on MGM records).

LILY and KING

A quirky, multi-instrumental, musical duo from Melbourne who play junkyard blues, Dixieland punk, and the odd bit of curious pop. Rousingly catchy, their music sits somewhere between a ’40s nightclub routine and the raw spirit of New Orleans street buskers.

On Saturday March 9th  they will perform their adventure of sounds at MUSICFEST. They have performed at the Queenscliff Music FestivalWoodford Folk Festival Queensland and Cygnet Folk Festival Tasmania among many others.

KARAVANA FLAMENCA

Karavana Flamenca plays wrenching Spanish Gypsy music, fusing the roots of rumba from Africa and Cuba. Lead vocalist Miguel Ovejero sings in his native Spanish/Romany, and, with their Turkish, Armenian, Spanish and Romany backgrounds, Karavana Flamenca is 'the real thing'. Double bass, guitars and percussion drive the rhythm; vocals, oud and violin sing the haunting tunes. The breath-taking energy, upbeat rhythms and soulful melodies of Karavana Flamenca will light up Musicfest 2013 on Saturday March 9.
